From Paper-Clips to Purpose — A Family Story About Financial Planning

Financial advisor Jewel grew up around AIA Singapore and now helps families protect what matters most. With a Cambridge background and a client-first approach, she combines steady listening with clear planning to build trust and lasting security.

When I was five, I fashioned a fishing rod from paper-clips in my father’s office and imagined the carpet was a river of silver fish. Years later, colleagues still smile when they recall me toddling around a house-warming party with a milk bottle in hand.

My life has always been quietly tied to AIA Singapore because of my dad. He joined the industry at nineteen, convinced that protecting families matters. Decades later he leads JAKEYU Group—a team of about seventy consultants—still modelling the culture that first inspired me: hardworking, client-first, generous with knowledge.

Perhaps you’re reading this because you’re curious about financial planning, or simply want to know who I am before we meet. If so, a warm hello!

I studied at the National University of Singapore and later at Cambridge, drawn to the energy of academic life. When it came time to choose a career, joining AIA felt natural: an opportunity to work alongside my dad, my brother, my aunt, and colleagues whose support continues to motivate me.

Starting out wasn’t easy. Friends didn’t always understand the work, and some doors stayed closed. But small, human conversations changed everything: a worried parent calling back for reassurance, a family asking for a second meeting to understand how a plan could protect them. Those moments gave everyday tasks their meaning.

These are the commitments I bring to every client:

  1. Care first. I begin with your everyday life—who and what you value most.

  2. Keep learning. I study communication, leadership, and decision-making, and I learn constantly from colleagues and clients alike.

  3. Protect trust. I show up, admit when I don’t know, and always follow through.

This work has taught me that credibility is earned in steady, consistent steps and that real planning is as much about listening as it is about numbers.

If you’re considering a plan—for your family, your future, or simply peace of mind—I’d be glad to listen.

Warmly,
Jewel
